Stories In Rhyme:
A Hundred Monkeys Run Over a Roof

...
It begins in the jungle of an Ancient Time,
When birds make music, and children
When monkeys swing through the canopies,
While children build play huts
One morning, a cockatoo waves it long,
tail feather
At her friends the parrots as
they play together.
In a nearby tree, the Boss Monkey’s eyes
Watch over the jungle - who slithers,
who flies.
...

...
20 monkeys hear the words, “Come back!”
Chuckling and giggling, they march toward the shack.
Onto the roof they leap from a rock,
Oh my, the small hut is shaking in shock!
Forming a line, they high-step along
While their voices sing a monkey song.
“See our feet march. Watch our tails
wave high!”
The leafy hut quivers and quakes
with a sigh.
Linking their tails to a vine on a tree,
They swing upside down and away - laughing with glee.
Inside, the child shouts, “Don’t come here. Go away!
Let me enjoy my lovely day!”
